Behind the Lens: Photographing Ceramic Tango with Patricia Chica

In 2013, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with award-winning film director Patricia Chica on her short film Ceramic Tango — a project that went on to be nominated at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France. This creative collaboration was one of those experiences that reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place: the energy, the artistry, and the powerful stories that can be told through imagery. For this project, I had the pleasure of photographing Patricia’s talented cast: Richard Cardinal, Holy Scar, and JenniMay Walker. Each of them brought such intensity and authenticity to the shoot, making my job behind the camera both effortless and inspiring. Their performances carried a raw emotional edge that translated beautifully into still images, giving the photographs a cinematic weight.Adding to the creative atmosphere was the visionary work of fashion designer Bridgette More (Germany), whose designs elevated the visuals and gave the images a striking, avant-garde presence.The session was more than just a photoshoot—it was a collaboration of artistic minds coming together to celebrate film, fashion, and photography. Looking back, I feel grateful for the chance to contribute to a project that resonated on an international stage, while also creating some of my favorite images to date.Here are a few highlights from that unforgettable shoot.
